    National Prog. of Edu. for Girls at Elementary Level

NPEGEL as a distinct gender Component of SSA is focusing on gender specific issues such as out of school girls, drop out girls, overage girls, not Competing elementary education, working girls, girls from marginalized social group, girls with low attendance, girls with low achievement etc. It envisages a cluster level sub- plan with a vibrant three tier structure at cluster, block and district levels. The program focused on identification of cluster specific needs for girl's education and formulates proactive gender-based strategy to handle the specific issues.

NPEGEL: Progress overview 2005-06

  • 1252 Model cluster schools are being functioning against 1263 MCS.
  • 3408 student evaluation/Remedial Teaching /Bridge Course/Alternative schooling have been established in 1233 model cluster school
  • 34896 girls enrolled in Remedial Teaching /Bridge Course/Alternative schooling.
  • In 817 Model Cluster School TLE has been distributed against 1253 MCS.
  • 348 Model Cluster School has rewarded for better enrollment, retention etc. against 1263 MCS.
  • In 857 MCS, vocational training has been started against 1263 MCS.
  • 20630 Girls have received vocational training.
  • 2095 ECCE centers have been opened.
  • 58720 children are enrolled in ECCE centers.
  • 6237 Mata Samities have been formed in 1233 MCS.
  • 62393 Women are in the Mata Samiti.
  • In 541 schools Gender sensitization for girl student have been started.
  • 1164 Additional Classroom has been constructed against 1236 ACR.
  • In 1233 Clusters, training provided for teachers on gender sensitization in 179 batches and 6835 teachers benefited the training programme.

 

Activities/Strategies undertaken

  • Orientation on Gender Sensitization provided to girls of MCS by sahyoginis along with the teacher
  • Area specific vocational training is being provided
  • Adoption of one model school per district as demonstrative model school by each district gender coordinator
  • Study materials has been developed on different tribal languages for training of teachers and for students
  • Module on Gender developed
  • Modules has been prepared for class V-VIII and are being used in formal and alternative schools.
  • School Chalein Hum Abhiyan at district to school level to ensure bring all children to school
  • For effective implementation, regular review-cum-planning meeting will be organized at each level ie State, district, Block, Cluster etc. and followed by the documentation also.

                   
Training/seminar/Workshop/meeting

  • 3 days National level workshop on Planning and Implementation on Girl's Education.
  • 5 days workshop on Module preparation on Gender sensitization.
  • 5 days workshop on Module preparation on Early Child Care Education.
