With a goal to provide access to quality education to girls of disadvantaged community living in EBBs, who remain outside the educational system total 74 KGBVs has been sanctioned during the year 2004-05.
In the year 2005-06 all the 74 KGBVs has been opened and are being functional. In the month of March, 2006 additional 81 KGBVs are sanctioned.

Strategy to open the KGBV
- All the schools are running in alternative arrangement and established in near by block headquarter.
- Each KGBV is manned with 4 Teacher, 1 Accountant, 1 Cook and 1 Night guard.
- Each school has a management committee that plays key role in making decision.
- Each KGBV also have purchase and building construction committee.
- TLM promoting girls education (Meena Materials) supplied to all school
- Text books and uniform provided to girls
- Sanctioned map and guidelines for building construction is being made available to all school.
