Early Childhood Education
Universalization of elementary education cannot be realized if the children between 3-6 years are not included in the educational process. The concept is a boom especially for the female child who otherwise is left behind for sibling care. To ensure female child's inclusion in the educational process following initiatives were undertaken by the council.
Expanding coverage
Expanding coverage with a view to universalize the coverage, a decision was taken by the State Executive, JEPC to establish Early Child Education Centers in habitations not covered by ICDS. Under SSA 2755 ECE centres were opened in 2005-06.
Training & Capacity building
Training of instructors and their reflection at regular interval is an integral part of ECE programme. ECE instructors are given fifteen days foundation training and 3 days recurrent training.
Distribution of Kits
The Project provides Playing Learning Material (PLM) and Health kits to ECE centers. 526 centres were given PLM kit and 566 centers were given Health kits to ECE centres during 2005-06.
Capacity building of Mata Samittee
Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centers are managed by Mata Samittees. A committee of mothers takes the responsibility of the functioning and management of the centers. From among themselves, mothers elect the President and Secretary. Mata Samittee takes decision to purchase necessary materials to run the school. Payment to instructors is made by the project on the basis of recommendations of Mata Samittee. 3,225 members of Mata Samittee received one day training in the management of ECE centers in 2005-06.
