Deployment of Para Teachers

Teachers are appointed by Village Education Committee (VEC) called Para Teachers to facilitate Schools under following Categories

a) Para Teachers for Upgraded Primary School/Newly Established Primary School Scheme Centres (EGS)

Under This category the VEC of respective School appoints 2 teachers to facilitate the newly established primary school/Upgraded Primary Schools. Minimum educational qualification has been set by the State Project Director. Candidates of same village and Candidate having higher qualification is preferred. Also Candidate belonging to SC, ST and girls are preferred for getting selected as Para Teachers.
A total of 34,624 Para Teachers are working against a sanctioned of 38,508 under this category as on 31 December 2011 in Jharkhand.

b) Para Teachers based on 1:40 Teacher Pupil Ratio

Under This category, the VEC of respective School appoints teachers to facilitate the school having higher pupil teachers ratio is more than 1:40. In order to calculate the requirement the total enrolment of that school is divided by 40 and then subtracting the number of teachers sanctioned in that school from it. The positive value so obtained is the required number of Para Teachers to be appointed for small period (generally for one academic session). Minimum educational qualification has been set by the State Project Director. Candidates of same village and Candidate having higher qualification is preferred. Also Candidate belonging to SC, ST and girls are preferred for getting selected as Para Teachers. The sanctioning of Para Teacher for appointment under this category has been stopped from September 2007 onwards.
A total of 24,754 Para Teachers are working against a sanctioned of 28,836 under this category as on 31 December 2011 in Jharkhand.

c) Para Teachers for Upgraded Upper Primary Schools

Under This category the VEC of respective School appoints 3 teachers to facilitate the newly upgraded Upper primary school one each for class VI, VII and VIII. The Para teacher so appointed takes care of classes of Maths, Science and English/Language Minimum educational qualification has been set by the State Project Director. Candidates of same village and Candidate having higher qualification is preferred. Also Candidate belonging to SC, ST and girls are preferred for getting selected as Para Teachers.
A total of 21,591 Para Teachers are working against a sanctioned of 30,618 under this category as on 31 December 2011 in Jharkhand.
